More about me
„Glo Bal Kan“ is a music project, which started up in July 2017 by four prominent Bulgarian musicians. The idea and the concept for the project came from the kaval player Nedyalko Nedyalkov. The band performs original own songs, influenced by the Bulgarian, Balkan and world folklore, arranged and adapted to the specific GloBalKan style.
Most of the compositions in this album are by Nedyalko Nedyalkov, one is by Petar Milanov and there are another three Bulgarian folklore songs, arranged specially for the band. You can hear also the world famous piece by Astor Piazzolla called Libertango, arranged in odd meters, entitled “Libertango ala Bulgaro“.
As Nedyalko says: „I’ve been dreaming for a long time to do this arrangement. Now I am glad that the other musicians of the band like this idea and enjoy performing it.”
Another notable composition is “Tima’s eleven“– a „Kopanitsa“ instrumental tune dedicated to Nedyalko’s wife – the folklore singer Stoimenka Nedyalkova, who is also featured on one song of this album. The pop singer Bogdana Petrova and the Greek musician Martha Mavroidi are also special guests on this recording.
This album is not the first time the four musicians play together. They have been musical partners already many times in various music projects and ensembles.
